In India, a court marriage means a marriage solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, of 1954. A couple belonging to any nationality, caste, or religion can solemnize the court marriage in the presence of a marriage officer and 3 witnesses. In court marriage procedure, the marriage officer performs the marriage without discrimination based on caste, or religion. It is a marriage solemnized according to law. To get the marriage certificate, the bride & the bridegroom can directly submit a court marriage application to the marriage officer. The court marriage can be registered in the office of the marriage officer. Conditions for Court Marriage: For a court marriage procedure, the following conditions should be considered: The bride and the bridegroom do not have a living spouse The bridegroom has completed 21 years, and the bride has completed 18 years.
